A Fine Remembrance Day

We were up bright and early this morning to get Jamie ready for the Remembrance Day parade downtown. It was a gorgeous morning, sun shining, reasonably warm. There was a strong breeze coming in from the harbour, but the sun was warm enough to make it tolerable. Todd, Travis, Caitlyn and I joined the crowd to observe the service, while Jamie stood on parade with his troop. They all did so well, standing straight and still - it's good that they have such a sense of pride and respect. Jamie really enjoys the parade functions, and takes it pretty seriously. Eric stayed at a friend's house last night, so didn't make it down to the War Memorial. We took a few photos of Jamie in uniform; just click on this photo to go to my photo album for the other pics.
Paying respects
Tonight, Jamie's troop are having a Wake-a-thon. No one is allowed to sleep, upon penalty of humiliation! Last year a couple cadets snuck off to the boys bathroom to try and catch a few Z's, and got doused with cold water while being loudly reprimanded. Why the heck do they find that fun?! I imagine Jamie will be pretty cranky tomorrow...

On a completely different tangent, we have not yet finished Eric's new room. I don't know why, except to say that it seems there's always something else that needs to be done more urgently... We did get the inside of his room painted; now we just need to paint the baseboards and put them in. As for the rec room itself, well... it is an absolute mess right now, and the time pressure is setting in - we want to be done with that in time to get ready for Christmas. It just never ends! ~sigh~

P.S. - See new photos of Caitlyn in my photo album!

You can see the pride ih his face and posture---- It's so great to have a passion at such an early age-- and for once, it was nice here too, weatherwise speaking!!
